2nd Annual Shamrock Shuffle 5K at Castle Ridge
The second annual Shamrock Shuffle 5K is a St. Patrick’s Day charity event hosted by Castle Ridge as part of The Castle Ridge Cares Initiative, a branch of the business that focuses on sponsoring and promoting public awareness, participation, and giving for the betterment of the community and those who live there.
This year’s Shamrock Shuffle 5K will benefit Keiragen Meyers, a nine-year-old girl who was born with Down Syndrome. Keiragen has been a fighter since birth, overcoming Hydrops, which has a 60%-90% mortality rate, while also being diagnosed with Jaundice. At three months old, she had an AV Canal repair on her heart. She also faced a regression when Covid took her schooling to Zoom. Another huge life change but again this strong little girl overcame all obstacles. Her father, stepmother, and a “small army” along the way are helping her thrive. Keiragen and her small army are very appreciative to be chosen as our 2024 recipient.
The 5k Run will start at 11:00 a.m. Participants are encouraged to dress in St. Patrick’s Day attire and can sign up for the run/walk on the Castle Ridge website – www.castleridgeevents.com. Participants who registered before March 6, 2024 will receive a free tee shirt.
There will be awards presented for the top males and females in the following age groups and overall top male and female: 12 & under, 13-19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60 and over. Last year’s event raised $6,000 donated to a local child, Cayce Cochran, to assist with medical care, and hosted 200 runners ages eight to eighty-one from 45 different towns in the tri-state area.
Castle Ridge is a unique 60-acre lakefront venue with a castle-themed wedding, conference and event center. The beautiful property also has 2 on-site restaurants, which feature outdoor and rooftop dining. For more information about this event, please contact race coordinator Michele Gulley at (618) 352-6070
